Our client in Broadstone came to us with a major challenge—a waterlogged, unusable garden that needed a complete transformation. We began by installing a spine land drain system to effectively remove standing water and improve drainage. Once the soggy ground was addressed, we completely reshaped the garden, replacing the boggy terrain with a functional and visually appealing outdoor space. Sleeper Flower Beds
To add structure and dimension to the garden, we installed beautifully crafted sleeper flower beds. These raised beds provide a natural, rustic touch while offering defined planting areas that improve drainage and promote healthy plant growth. The solid timber sleepers create a warm, organic aesthetic that blends seamlessly with the rest of the garden, adding both character and practicality.
Two Patios Areas & Stepping Stones
To maximise usability and create a natural flow, we installed two distinct patio areas connected by carefully placed stepping stones. This layout allows different sections of the garden to serve various purposes, whether for relaxation, dining, or entertaining. The combination of patios and pathways ensures seamless movement throughout the space while maintaining a cohesive design.
Venetian- style Fencing & Trellis
For privacy and an added sense of elegance, we installed Venetian-style fencing with matching trellis. This contemporary fencing design allows light to filter through while providing the necessary screening from neighbouring properties. The trellis also offers an ideal framework for climbing plants, adding a soft, green touch to the perimeter.
Slim-Line ACO Drains
Efficient drainage is key to any outdoor installation, especially with large hardscape areas. We installed slim-line ACO drains along the patio edges to ensure effective water runoff, preventing pooling and protecting the integrity of the garden. These drains are both unobtrusive and functional, maintaining the clean lines of the design without sacrificing performance.
Fresh Topsoil & Turf
After removing the boggy, unusable ground, we laid high-quality fresh topsoil to create a stable and fertile foundation. We then installed lush new turf, instantly revitalising the space with a vibrant green lawn. This fresh grass provides a soft, inviting area that is perfect for relaxation, children’s play, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
Type 1 Sub-Base & Cotswold Shingle
To ensure durability and stability, we used 15 tonnes of Type 1 sub-base to create a firm foundation for the patios and pathways. We then finished the design with 5 tonnes of premium Cotswold shingle, adding texture and a refined look to the garden. This high-quality gravel enhances drainage while complementing the warm tones of the timber and stonework.
